Are you Using an Isolated Strategy?

Hi, this is Peter Winick from Thought Leadership Leverage, and today I want to talk to you about something that I think is pretty important for thought leaders and authors to consider, and that’s alignment. We all know what it’s like when your car is out of alignment things start shaking, things start to rattle. You can still get to where you wanna go, but it’s not a comfortable ride and it doesn’t quite feel right.

The alignment issue that I see the most out of whack with authors and thought leaders is the lack of alignment between their strategy, their tactics, and their goals.

We tend to think about strategy in isolation. It exists over here and then day-to-day we get sucked into the tactical things, the things that we need to do, and then our goals are just sort of out there. So if those three things are sort of off doing their own stuff, you’re gonna have a wobbly ride, you’re gonna have a rough ride, and you’re not gonna have efficient ride.

Every now and then, pause, take a step back. Check your strategy and go, “Yup, that’s still working, that’s the strategy that works for me,” or you modify it, tweak it , adjust it a little bit. Analyze your tactics and make sure they’re still aligned to support that strategy everyday, incrementally, in little bits. Then take a look at the goals you’re trying to achieve. Make sure that those tactics are aligned to your goals that are aligned with your strategy.

Think of yourself as a machine, as a thought leadership machine, as a content machine. Make sure you’re in alignment because it’s really difficult to do it well, and even harder when you’re out of alignment. Thanks so much for your time.
