What’s a Strategic Mouse Trap?

Transcript

Hi there! It’s Peter Winick. I’m the founder and CEO at Thought Leadership Leverage.

And today, I wanted to share with you the concept of the strategic mousetrap. “What’s a strategic mousetrap?” you might ask. Thanks for asking!

Here’s what it is. So, a mousetrap is a trap designed to couch a mouse. And in order to catch the mice in an infected area or an infested area, you have to put lots of them out there in places that you think the mice would be. Fairly simple concept. So, a strategic mouse trap is strategically putting out your content, your thought leadership, your ideas in the places that you think your targets are. Right. It could be in the form of writing an insightful and thoughtful comment on a LinkedIn post. It could be in the form of original thought leadership such as a short form video, an article a Blog, your book, anything that’s a derivative of your your thinking, of your work that is designed with the target in mind.

And the real issue here is not just continually putting out great thought leadership to the folks that already know you and follow you. You already have a relationship with them, they’re they’re subscribed to your newsletter, they’re following you on a consistent basis.

But where do you put those traps to target new folks? Right. New folks that align to the clients that you’d like to serve, that you’d want to serve.

So anyway, start thinking about strategic mouse traps. What they are. What they might be for you. And most importantly, where you will place them to catch the, you know proverbial mouse. Thanks so much.
