Are you encouraging self-selection?

Transcript

Hi there, it’s Peter Winick. I’m the founder and CEO at Thought Leadership Leverage, and here’s the idea that I’d like to share with you today, and that’s this: make it easy for clients and prospects to self-select—easy for them and easy for you.

What do I mean by this? If you find, often in conversations with folks reaching out to you to learn more about you, particularly to potentially engage you, hire you, etc., and you spend a lot of time having to convince them that your work, your frameworks, your methodologies, your thought leadership is the right way, a good way, or something worthy of considering, then they are not self-selecting.

You don’t get paid for all that effort, energy, and such that goes into those conversations to try to convince someone to potentially consider your thoughts as viable thoughts, as valuable thoughts to them.

If it’s a self-selection click, then the idea here is to put out your work in such a way that it invites people that are somewhat like-minded, that invites people to lean in, that invites people that are already in agreement, or at least curious and open-minded enough to want to learn more.

So again, think about how you can put things out there that make it easier for potential clients to self-select you and you to select them. Love to hear your thoughts.
