Cadence, Constraints, and Consistency
Transcript
Hi there, it’s Peter Winick. I’m the founder and CEO at Thought Leadership Leverage. And here’s three ideas I want to share with you today.
That is this—thinking about how you put your work out into the world and how you put your content out in the world. There’s three things that I think sort of matter to help you do that effectively. And that’s having the right cadence, the right constraints, and being consistent.
So, cadence. Let’s talk about that. Cadence means if you’re committing to putting out a newsletter once a month or twice a month, or posting a video every other week—stick to the cadence. You’re setting up a pattern, and it’s a forcing mechanism not only for you, but for your audience and your followers to expect something from you, some nugget.
Constraints. Now, this might seem a little bit counterintuitive, but the more constraints you apply to what you’re putting out there, the easier it will be to sort of fill in those blanks, right? You don’t want to be putting out things commenting on everything that’s happening in the news—that goes stale. You want to have the constraints be: how does your work apply to your audience in a way that is of use and of relevance to them?
And the last piece is the consistency. Being consistent with both your cadence, right, as well as your content. Stay focused, right? Stay focused from a timing perspective and stay focused from a messaging perspective.
So again, think about the cadence that you’d like to commit to. Think about the constraints that you can apply to what you’re putting out there. And be committed to being consistent in what you do.
Love to hear your thoughts.
