Do you have strategic mouse traps?

Transcript

It’s Peter Winick. I’m the founder and CEO at Thought Leadership Leverage, and here’s the idea that I’d like to share with you today, and that’s this: are you putting strategic mousetraps out into the world?

What do I mean by this? What’s a strategic mousetrap? So, a strategic mousetrap, by my definition, is an example of your work, your ideas, your content, your models, your methods, your framework that is put out strategically. By strategically, I mean in the right format, right? So, that might be video, could be written, could be audio, whatever the case might be, in front of the right people—the people that can use your offerings and your services and such.

What happens with a strategic mousetrap is someone comes along, and that someone lines up nicely with the types of folks that you work with. What happens when you step in a mousetrap? Ouch, you’re kind of trapped. They stop for a moment and go, “Wow, that’s kind of an interesting idea. It shakes me up, gets me to think a little bit. Maybe I should reach out and talk to the person that created that mousetrap, that put it out there, so that I can learn a bit more. I can find out how they can help me, etc.”

So, I would be thinking more and more about when, where, and how you can consistently and creatively put out strategic mousetraps so that you can benefit from people being exposed to your work in ways that you might not be exposing them to today. Love to hear what you think.
