Hi there, it’s Peter Winick. I’m the founder and CEO at Thought Leadership Leverage.
And here’s the idea that I’d like to share with you today, and that’s this.
Most thought leaders are incredibly intentional thought leaders. However, many are accidental CEOs.
What do I mean by this?
Well, there’s an intent to do some research. There’s an intent to write a book. There’s an intent to explore the topic that you’re passionate about, that you have this deep expertise in. And that’s where you throw yourself, and that’s where excellence is the only option, right? You’re just the best thought leader in the space that you choose to practice in, in your domain expertise, and that’s really with intent, right?
But what comes with that is you accidentally take on this role of CEO because now you’re in a business, right? And maybe that happened sort of serendipitously. Maybe it was through a series of circumstances, etc., but you’re an accidental CEO.
And quite frankly, many thought leaders are behaving like accidental CEOs.
My suggestion would be intentional about both of those roles. Don’t discount or do less than you need to do as a thought leader, but be as intentional, as focused, and as deliberate as you are a thought leader as you also are a CEO.
You’ll benefit. Your clients will benefit, and the work will actually benefit.
