Hi there, it’s Peter Winick. I’m the founder and CEO at Thought Leadership Leverage, and here’s the thought that I’d like to share with you today, and that’s this: there are people out there that adore your work, and there’s people out there that endure your work. Do you know the difference between the two?
What do I mean by that? Well, there are people out there that anything that you put out in almost any format, in almost any modality, they just love it. They love everything you say, they love the way you think, they love the way your mind works, the research that you put out, the way that you put all the pieces together and tell a story. They love it, they adore everything that you do.
Then there are others that kind of endure it, right? Maybe it’s not really up to them, maybe your work is integrated into a high potential program they’ve got in their workplace, and they endure it.
Well, what I’ve noticed over the years in my work with lots of authors and thought leaders and academics and such is that they focus too much on those that endure to try to make them happier, as opposed to focusing on those that adore them. And my instincts are and my experience show me that the more you focus and the more you produce more of what they adore to those that adore it and know why, what is it about what you’re doing that’s resonating with them so much, and stop wasting time and energy and effort convincing those that are eh that you’re great, right? It’s just a lot of exhausting effort.
So anyway, know the difference between who adores you and really put all your energy there versus who potentially endures you. Love to hear your thoughts.
